A few words about Scotty's Skunkworks...

This site is dedicated to those who do the remarkable, with too little, for the good of the rest of us.

Modern skunkworks lore traces back to Lockheed’s Skunkworks, a magical place where truly remarkable stuff happened.  Read about Lockheed’s Skunkworks here.  Better yet, read Skunkworks.  The vision, ingenuity and hard work of the Lockheed Skunkworks team over the years is quite simply unparalleled, and serves as a model for all of us that struggle to advance the ball in the face of shrinking resources and the wet blanket of what passes as established wisdom.

But remember that those who do the remarkable, with too little, for the good of the rest of us, includes a lot of folk.  The science teacher that buys supplies out his own pocket to take his students that extra mile, the working single mother that spends her few precious evening minutes reading to her kids, and the countless volunteers that make things happen for those that can’t, often deserve better than they get, but are the last to complain.  There’s a lesson there for the rest of us.

On a legal note, the kind folks who represent Lockheed Martin have kindly asked for confirmation that Scotty'sSkunkworks.com is not affiliated with them in any way, shape, or form. Nor would we ever want to be associated with (read as: incur the wrath of) a company that supplies the world with most of its destructive firepower. Accordingly, the word "Skunkworks" is a registered trademark of the Lockheed Martin Corporation and is used with thier knowledge. We would also like to confirm that we make no profits from this site, it is available simply to provide information about Ham Radios such as the Collins KWM-1 or the Watkins Johnson HF-1000A.

Make something good happen.
